Our team has chosen to stay anonymous, not because there’s anything to hide, but because this project is about the environments and the noticing, not about us as individuals. Staying private also means we can write honestly about overload, routine, and the small things that help, without it becoming about our own faces or names.
Wren is the voice you hear in every field note. Not one specific person, and not a character separate from us either, more like the shared voice we’d use if we were sitting next to you in that supermarket aisle or on that platform, saying the thing that actually helps. When you hear Wren, you’re hearing us.
We write this as autistic people, from our own experience of these spaces, the pool, the aisle, the platform, all of it. We’re not writing as outside observers describing a condition. We’ve stood in these exact rooms and needed exactly this.
We’re not trying to build a brand around ourselves. We’re trying to build something useful for people who feel what we feel in these spaces. That’s the whole reason this exists and we started The Still Index.
